a real game of two halfs. Toons playing hoof ball all first half were dreadful but after the first goal we failed to push on. Lost our shape after Larson went off and Newcastle started to play football. Defence slow to react to let owen in to score- don't realy blame Taylor as he made some good saves but lacks confidence on corners -some of his dicision making ?- on the whole a draw was a fair result but feel disapointed that we didn't control the game second half like we did the first. It was us holding on for the point in the end and at home, worries me. |

I thought Maik Taylor had a great game. What about the save from Owen at 1-0? After our back-four had failed to clear yet again (how their goal came about, yet again) |

I thought Maik Taylor made some great saves, the one from Owen was amazing, but only got a passing comment from the Sultana pundits / commentators. What REALLY gripes me about Taylor is his total inability to do anything but hoof the ball up field when he gets it. When was the last time he actually rolled a ball to one of our players to bring it up field? I watched the Pompey game last week & we did it every time there. We didn't win a single ball in the air, but still good old Maikey hoofs it to their players to nod back down field towards us. Last night was no different. He hoofs it down field when we have got 2 or 3 defenders who are much better placed to take the ball forward. We probably lose 70% of the 1st ball from a Taylor long kick - 20% go straight into touch!! Surely even Muamba (Bambi on Ice) would increase the chances of finding one of our players, and even if he didn't, he's 30 - 40 yards further up field before giving it away. I'm afraid I have to agree with a few others on here - we need a new goalie next season, along with a better organised & qualified back four. Tighten up at the back & we might have a chance of surviving our 2nd seson in the Prem. |

Why oh why are we so useless at throw in’s?? Almost every single throw in we take in every single game goes to the opposition?? There was hardly any blues movement, any body would think they didn’t want the ball. However, almost every throw in Newcastle had last night went to a newcastle player in space?? Some may say this is a minor point, after our second performance last night, but its all part of the big picture. |

No not really was only having a laugh. Agree with some of your points. but wouldn't want to see Parnaby, Forsell or Zarate leave (though the price to buy him would have to reflect that he has a long way to go)Thought Maik Taylor played ok last night, but next season could be one too many for him - he has however been an excellent servant to the club. |

Questions have to be asked about the half time team talk. McLeish talked about Newcastle coming back into the game in the second half, but that was only because we let them. Muamba and DJ dropped so deep they were practically in the back four. Every corner Newcastle took, we had 11 men in our own penalty area, so even when we did clear the ball it ended up coming back in. This was made worse by the fact that when we did clear our lines practically everyone stayed in the penalty area, waiting for the inevitable ball back in. If Forse and Fads had stayed up Toon would've had to take another couple of players out of their attack, or risk us catching them on the break. As it was, they were able to leave two back, only one of which was in their half, and pepper our area with balls. It doesn't help Taylors coming to claim a ball either if he has to make his way past fifteen players to catch it. It should be down to the manager and the captain to ensure that a team keep their shape, but in Blues's case it is something we see time and time again. "Keep it tight" does not mean "defend at all costs" because the best way to keep Newcastle at bay last night was continue to take the game to them. However, we let them back into it, and they beat us at our own game. For that, either McLeish or DJ must take the blame. |

Mc fadden was our biggest threat but after being kicked none stop for 80 mins he could hardly walk let alone run so had to come off. the way the second half turned out to be towards the end it was very arieal and did not suit Zarate so probally why he came on so late. I thought it was Muamba's best game in a long time..... yes room for improvment in the final third but broke up play time after time. I dont think forssell had the right service tonight... our passing game, more so second half was non exsistant and did not suit. Also i Think CJ was brought on to chase back and close down butt who ran the game second half! A fair result yes.... a good one well looking at how desperate Newcastle were staring owen, viduka and martins... yes i think it was based on or second half performance. |

I feel sorry for the neutrals, it really wasn't a very good game as you might have expected, for every great save Taylor makes, he's always sure to make up for it with a few flaps and general dithering, the CB's seem capable of very little, and I'm still trying to work out what happened when Larsson came off, I know he's good, but do we really just fall to pieces when he comes off. The thing that disappointed me most was the way the team just dropped down the pitch, we were playing a Newcastle team in disarray, a team who are known for collapsing when they go one down, yet we decide sitting back is the best option, looks like we're going to have to rely on McFadden, Larsson, Murphy, Kelly, Forssell to keep us up, the others are just too hit and miss, and some of them are blatantly not Prem level, I've been kidding myself Sheff just needs some confidence, he's not up to standard, and he plays like he knows it. Never the less, a point gained, In literal terms anyway. **thumbup |

I think we could have coped when we lost larsson if we had de ridder on the bench, but because it was parnaby , who is actually a defender we had no attacking threat down the right side , and still no attacking threat down the left side with sheff being out of the game completley. This is de ridders chance now surely. |

The problem is we can't replace Larsson. He is great going forward and yet he is great a breaking the play up all over the pitch. IF you play DeRidder you leave Kelly wide open IMO. |

I agree but if the worst comes to the worst then we will either have to play De Ridder there or maybie go with something like this. --McFadden------Zarate--------Forsell--- ----------------------------------------- ---Muamba-------Nafti------------Johnson --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- Murphy----Jaidi-------Ridgewell-----Kelly ---------------------------------------------- ----------------Taylor----------------------- Was just an idea so dont knock me for it |

Well I didn't want to say it, but Playing DJ on the right would be my suggestion. So 4-4-2, with DJ on the right, Nafti and Muambe in the middle and Kapo (when fit) on the left (McSheffrey then Zarate there for now). |

Forgot about McSheff  ....in that case would have DJ on right Muamba in middle and Mc Sheff on left. |

IT will be hard too replace larsson, but cant see manager going for this attacking of 4,3,3, formation, deridder will have too come in, but will need too be tucking in when lose ball. but manager most likely go for jonson wide right and bring nafti in. |

A midfield 3 of Muamba / Nafti / DJ? Two I can just about get used to, but 3 is a step too far. Larsson will be a big loss if he's out for any length of time, he'd get in the team on his free kicks alone but he gives you more than that - he'll be missed. Everything is now about the next few weeks - yes we know that BCFC will always be there for us, joys and sorrows and all that, but we must stay up this season. Some of our performances have been reasonable this year, it'd be such a shame if we slung it all away. How about keeper + back 4 + two from Nafti / Muamba / DJ. That leaves 4 places left, I'd fill them with attacking players - McFadden, Forssell, Zarate and A.N.Other (Larsson if fit, obviously). What have we got to lose? We can pack the midfield and keep it tight, only to watch our static defence concede silly goals, or we can steam into teams and try and stay up fighting. We have the players, now is the time to use them. |

Hmmmm, there's two options: 1) It was Mikael's slower twin brother, who played against Newcastle, 'cause Mikael has dodgy knees and he isn't fit. That's why he was slow. OR 2) It is common in different sports and also in everyday life that the performances aren't at the same level. On this forum some people tend to change their opinions after every match. Wait for couple more matches and check whether Mikael really is unfit and megaslow. The coach himself stated that Mikael didn't get service. He is playing more like a target player, which isn't the most suitable role for him. I agree that it would be interesting to see McFadden, Mikael and Zarate on the pitch at the same time. It may be too risky though. |
